I Live My Life [VHS]
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-01-03 Summary: Crawford Dazzles ... I LIVE MY LIFE is a comedy that is just a hairsbreath from the darkness that accompanies the gloominess of stark drama. Director W. S. Van Dyke tells the tale of Kay (Joan Crawford), a rich and spoiled heiress who saunters off to Greece and meets a solid down to earth archaeologist Terry O'Neill (Brian Aherne) who promptly falls for Kay but despises her snooty upper class elitism. Much of the film's comedy revolves around his being the poor fish out of water trying to survive in an elaborate fishbowl of luxury. There ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-04-16 Summary: This is life, the one you get so go and have a ball ... "I Live My Life" is one of Joan's very best love stories from the 1930's. Joan plays Kay Bently, a socialite who tries to make a relationship with an archaeologist. I really like this movie because although it is similar to those typical love-story/love-triangles that MGM/Joan did, it also seems unique and very original. The performances by all are second to none. This movie came out 4 months after Joan's other picture from 1935, the hard-to-find, "No More Ladies." You really must see this movie if you have any interest ...more

End "1935 s" research and recommendations
This week's tips:
Aspect Ratio - the ratio of image width to image height. The term may apply to the display device configuration, or the shape of the content being displayed. (See Letterboxing) HDTV uses an aspect ratio of 16 units wide by 9 units high. Conventional television programming and displays are at an aspect ratio of 4 - 3. Digital SDTV programs may aspect ratios from 4 - 3 to 16 - 9, dependant on content and its source (e.g. upconverted NTSC is likely to be 4 - 3).
Backing - Frame lumber installed between the wall studs to give additional support for drywall or an interior trim related item, such as handrail brackets, cabinets, and towel bars. In this way, items are screwed and mounted into solid wood rather than weak drywall that may allow the item to break loose from the wall. Carpet backing holds the pile fabric in place.
Bullhead - An extra large coffee bean. Sometimes a peaberry which has not totally grown together.
CPM (Cost Per Thousand) - Standard metric used to calculate the relative cost of advertising. It stands for the "cost per 1000 impressions". For every 1000 times an ad is shown, you are paid a certain amount of money.
Genmaicha - Green tea blended with roasted rice
HD-Ready TV - An HDTV monitor or TV that lacks a digital tuner.
Isometrics - a system of exercise in which opposing muscles are contracted. There is little movement even though both muscle sets are exerting force
Local Area Network (LAN) - A group of computers in an office or building connected to one another by cable. A network computer can access files on other computers in the network or enable others to open and use its files. Printers, modems, and CD-ROM drives are also typically shared peripherals on a network.
Rated Capacity - The number of ampere-hours a battery can deliver under specific conditions (e.g., rate of discharge, end voltage, temperature); usually specified by the battery manufacturer.
