Friday the 13th 2 [VHS]
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2009-09-26 Summary: Part 2! ... in some ways this is better than the original, I have just bought the friday box set and this film was on it, i rate this as the second best in the series. It is not as shocking as the original and there is very little suspence but it has the same atmosphere and plenty of thrills to give you an enjoyable 90 minutes. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-07-12 Summary: On Par With the First Film ... When the first Friday the 13th film made over $30 million at the box office on a less-than-$1 million budget, Paramount instantly began production on a sequel. Released a year later in 1981, Friday the 13th: Part 2 isn't much different from it's predecessor. In fact, it follows the formula of the first film so closely it's hardly a different movie. This is good and bad. Bad, if you like variety. Good, if you just want an effective slasher film. A description of the plot isn't entirely necessary but...Five years after ...more
Editorial Reviews — ... Amazon.com | As bad as Friday the 13th, Part 2 is, it's a work of art in comparison to the rest of the Friday the 13th flicks that came afterward. This installment officially introduced us to Jason Voorhees as the killer (if you remember Drew Barrymore's fatal phone quiz in Scream , you know that the killer in the first Friday the 13th was actually Jason's mother), and made the slicing and dicing even more generic. Survivor Alice is dispatched within the first 10 minutes, and we're left with plucky Ginny (Amy...more

Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2005-11-16 Summary: Awesome socks! ... I have been a Smartwool sock wearer for a few years now and highly recommend the Smartwool Hiker as a comfortable, durable, and excellent sock. After several years of trying various wool socks I was a big fan of wool rag socks, and somewhat hesitantly tried a pair of Smartwool socks that were given to me as a gift. I was quickly hooked. These socks perform better for keeping feet dry than any other socks I have tried. The merino wool that they are made with is extremely comfortable. They also wear very well. With a ...more

ChefsChoice® 450 2 - stage Knife Sharpener
Feature: ... Manual knife sharpener with diamond embedded grinding wheels for quality knife sharpening at home; 2 Step program sharpens and then polishes straight edge knives at wider angle to create a sharp cutting edge; Made in USA ...more
Customer Reviews — [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-11-29 Summary: Good sharpener for most knives ... This is a quick and easy way to sharpen most knives but does not work too well with my vegetable knives - those I still sharpen with a whetstone. Incidentally sharping with a whetstone gives me a better edge but this is good enough for everyday use. ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2005-05-02 Summary: Works great ... I've had one of these for a year or two, and it works great. It puts a sharp edge on every (non-serrated) knife I've tried, including my Swiss Army knife. The edge seems to last a reasonable length of time, I don't find that I have to use the sharpener all that often. But when you want to slice tomatoes, you need a good edge on your knife, and this sharpener fills the bill for me. Now, I'm no chef, I'm a rank amateur when it comes to sharpening knives, so if you're very picky, or a pro, or just very well educated in ...more

This week's tips:

Aspect Ratio - the ratio of image width to image height. The term may apply to the display device configuration, or the shape of the content being displayed. (See Letterboxing) HDTV uses an aspect ratio of 16 units wide by 9 units high. Conventional television programming and displays are at an aspect ratio of 4 - 3. Digital SDTV programs may aspect ratios from 4 - 3 to 16 - 9, dependant on content and its source (e.g. upconverted NTSC is likely to be 4 - 3).

Backing - Frame lumber installed between the wall studs to give additional support for drywall or an interior trim related item, such as handrail brackets, cabinets, and towel bars. In this way, items are screwed and mounted into solid wood rather than weak drywall that may allow the item to break loose from the wall. Carpet backing holds the pile fabric in place.

Bullhead - An extra large coffee bean. Sometimes a peaberry which has not totally grown together.

CPM (Cost Per Thousand) - Standard metric used to calculate the relative cost of advertising. It stands for the "cost per 1000 impressions". For every 1000 times an ad is shown, you are paid a certain amount of money.

Genmaicha - Green tea blended with roasted rice

HD-Ready TV - An HDTV monitor or TV that lacks a digital tuner.

Isometrics - a system of exercise in which opposing muscles are contracted. There is little movement even though both muscle sets are exerting force

Local Area Network (LAN) - A group of computers in an office or building connected to one another by cable. A network computer can access files on other computers in the network or enable others to open and use its files. Printers, modems, and CD-ROM drives are also typically shared peripherals on a network.

Rated Capacity - The number of ampere-hours a battery can deliver under specific conditions (e.g., rate of discharge, end voltage, temperature); usually specified by the battery manufacturer.
